thanksgiving 2005

No turkey for us. We had stuffed acorn squash. Jess, I still have the stained glass flower five years later. Oh yeah, and this picture's about cooking or something. This year's waldorf salad had fennel (don't tell my mom it was a far better recipe). Mukesh chops sage. Matt suppresses the urge to narrate the lemon-zesting process. Gergana and Mukesh. He brought the tastiest saffron rice.
So, the whole meal consisted of (clockwise from top): acorn squash stuffed with wild rice, hazelnuts, and cranberries; candied yams; tarragon green beans; olives stuffed with bleu cheese; pear-cranberry chutney; saffron rice; greek salad; and waldorf salad with fennel. Lots of squash. Second in the series of blurry food pics, the cranberry chutney. Gergana, Mukesh, me, and Leonghwee. Matt's taking the picture. After dinner we played trivial pursuit. Note the deck of Guam cards in place of the missing die. Matt revels in his obscure knowledge.
Leonghwee puzzles over obscure pop culture trivia from 1981, when the cards were printed. Hao secretly knows all the answers.
