Someone stole my turn signal lights

Last night in the South Side, someone took the side parts of my car's front turn signals. It could've been worse; they did a clean job and I don't think anything else is missing. But really, how annoying.

The mechanic said: "That's not cool."

Cars are so well designed—I wouldn't have noticed the loss for days, probably, since I almost never drive and the lights still work. But the interior turn signal indicator blinked at twice its normal rate, alerting me immediately that something was wrong.

I'd heard of people stealing VW logos and letters from the Jetta logo, but never blinkers. Your mechanic is right - that's not cool.

Totally unrelated: Have you ever considered adding comment fields on your books page? I'm not sure why you'd want to, but I'm always overcome with the urge to say: "Hey, I read that too!" when going through people's lists of books.

At least you have the satisfaction of knowing you got bested by a seasoned pro.

Moira, I'm quite sorry, this is totally lame. I know the sinking feeling of getting robbed. When I lived in LA, in three separate incidents, my license plate, hubcaps and stereo system were taken.

Hope it wasn't too expensive to replace!

Sorry about taking the lights, but I *really* needed them!

I WILL hunt you down and take them back. Beware the wrath of a woman who can't signal her intentions.
