Mom Week recap and royalty

Mom was here all last week; I showed her my favorite haunts and introduced her to all of the friends I've been talking about for months. Highlights included walking the Wissahickon Trail in Riverview Park, a magic show in a shop on the South Side, two plant sales, a potluck with friends, and hearing Found Magazine's creator Davy Rothbart speak. (After the latter, I got the bonus of my mom reciting the titles of songs on a "booty-rap anthem" cassette that Davy found, which included gems like "Wave Yo' Booty in the Air," "Yo' Ass is So Fine (heartfelt remix)," and "Your Booty Don't Stop.").

Some pictures from Mom's visit are on Flickr.

In other news, Ruth, Josh, Aushra, and I went to an "elementary"-themed party on Friday. We went as the noble gasses.

And I put all of my plants on the back porch and set up a chair. Wifi and music drift easily to the space, and there's a spot for a little barbecue. I may never come in to the lab again.

Re themed party: You'll be the death of me. ;-)
On a lighter note, your mom's pretty cute.

"In the United States and Europe there are a few "radon spas," where people sit for minutes or hours in a high-radon atmosphere in the belief that airborne radiation will invigorate or energize them."

So I'm reading aggregated blogs, and lo! I'm reading online and on print the same person. I await your radio debut.
